Voluntary Recall of Listed Consumer-Sized Super Lube Penetrants Due to Risk of Poisoning; Violation of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act

Name of Product:

  • Super Lube Syncopen Synthetic Penetrant
  • Super Lube Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluid
  • Super Lube Metal Protectant and Corrosion Inhibitor

This recall affects consumer sizes of one gallon or less. A complete list is provided below and in the attached consumer notice. (Larger sizes not present in households are not covered in this recall.)

Hazard: The recalled products contain either ethylene glycol or low-viscosity petroleum distillates, which must be in child-resistant packaging, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).

The packaging for the products is not child resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children. Additionally, petroleum distillates can get into the lungs causing chemical pneumonia and/or pulmonary damage which can be fatal.

How is Kano and Super Lube Making this Right? 

Kano and Super Lube area offering you a full refund for the recalled lubricants. You must have the product in your possession to qualify for the refund.

Steps to Take to Obtain Your Refund:

  1. Please immediately secure the recalled Super Lube® products out of the sight and reach of children.
  2. Write your initials, the date, and the word “Recalled” on the product or product label in dark visible permanent marker.
  3. Take a photo of the packaging showing the initials and date.
  4. Complete this PDF form and save it to your device.
  5. Email this photo and completed form to [email protected].
  6. Once you receive confirmation on receipt of photo and form, please dispose of the recalled lubricants in a sealed garbage bag and place for collection.

Do not donate the lubricant or keep it in your home.

Consumer Questions

Qx. Why is this recall being conducted?
Ax. We are conducting this recall voluntarily on certain consumer sizes of the Super Lube products listed above because the products contain either ethylene glycol or low-viscosity petroleum distillates, which must be in child-resistant packaging, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).

Qx. What remedy are you offering as part of the recall?
Ax. We are offering a full refund. Consumers will need to provide proof of possession by emailing a photo of the product with their initials, date, and the word “RECALLED” written on the product to [email protected] to receive their full refund.

Qx. Can’t I just throw away my unit and have you ship me a new one?
Ax. If you wish to receive a replacement unit, please email us at [email protected].

Qx. I am not concerned about this. Can I continue to use these products?
Ax. We are asking all users to immediately secure the recalled Super Lube® products out of the sight and reach of children in or near a household and contact Kano Laboratories for a full refund.

Qx. I have other Super Lube products, are those products affected by this recall?
Ax. No.

Qx. I no longer have the receipt for the recalled Super Lube products. Can I still get a refund?
Ax. Yes. Even if you don’t have a receipt, you can receive a refund if you still have the product and follow the directions provided by us. Do not dispose of the product until directed.

Qx. How long will it take for me to receive the refund the replacement?
Ax. Checks take approximately 4 – 6 weeks to process.

Qx. Have there been any reported injuries?
Ax. No.
